Come and face my brute, if you dare

April 30th, 2009

GerucaCome and step into the arena against my brute and get your butt handed to you.

Geruca – My Brute

My Brute is a cool little flash game where you build up brutes by fighting them against other brutes and earning experience points. As you go along and ear experience points you’ll also get abilities and weapons. All they are missing is for a way to integrate the brutes you create into social networks.

A real easy way to lose some time, when you are sitting infront of the computer and not in the mood for working.

Damn, the White House has a Flickr stream?

April 30th, 2009

You know the game has changed when the White House puts up a Flickr stream. I love that the president of the United States is in touch with the world and technology, unlike his predecessor whom (in his defense) was at least aware of internets.

All of these things little by little are going to add up and really change the way politics is played in America. Things will never be the same.

Go check out the White House photo stream on Flickr by clicking on the above image.

Is an Apple tablet coming?

An fan concept of the possible Apple netbook

Lot’s of rumors on the internet this week of Apple’s possible answer to the netbook. A device that is larger than an iPhone but smaller than a laptop. Basically the device my inner geek has been salivating over ever since I got accustomed to my iPhone and it lost it’s luster. CNN today published a pretty detailed article that speculates on the device, which is definitely worth reading:

CNN: Apple plots course for middle of mobile

Personally I really hope this device hits the market sometime this summer. Apple already has amazing lead on it’s competitors in the smartphone market, if they can deliver this device correctly then they stand to get the lead in an entirely new market, as other companies are still trying to redefine the laptop. Also I believe that with their touch screen technology Apple can really take electronic books and magazines to the next level. Being able to zoom in and out of pages by and flicking through pages with your fingers really helps to provide a subconscious link to the books and magazines we grew up reading.

Could make for an interesting summer…

Why the Pirate Bay verdict stinks

April 28th, 2009

The world's larget BitTorrent website

Two weeks ago the Pirate Bay, the world largest file sharing website, was found guilty of copyright infringement. The outcome is hardly surprising to me, but rather disappointing. The Motion Picture Association of America has been going after the Pirate Bay for several years now. They were finally able to bring them to court after successfully lobbying Sweden to make changes to their law. In my opinion that something like that could happen is really telling about how government’s worldwide cater to corporate interests rather than those of the common people, but that’s not what I want to get into with this article.

What’s really upsetting about this whole situation is how the only answer any of these large corporations have to internet piracy is lawsuits and legal threats. It’s a response that in my opinion has had very little if no effect on the situation.

Back To The Future

I recently watched Back to The Future 2 again for the first time in I don’t know how many years. I’ve always had fond memories of seeing those films when I was a kid. There’s nothing like a Mattel branded Hover Board and a flying Dolorean to capture your imagination. So I was sitting there enjoying the film and then it dawned on me that the entire dilema from the film is pretty much impossible. Even worse than that the characters pretty much state it in the dialogue.

If somehow you haven’t seen this film, you might want to consider not reading any further.

When Doc Brown and Marty travel to the future their time machine is stolen by old Biff. Old Biff then travels back in time to the 50’s where he gives his younger self the sports almanac from the future. In the film he then goes back to the future and returns the time machine from where he stole it.
