Avatar & the future of cinema
I saw Avatar almost two weeks ago, I wanted to immediately write something about it on this blog but my Christmas vacation got in the way. I left for Italy the day after seeing the film and didn’t have the time to do any blogging. Needless to say this post is little bit delayed.
So how was Avatar?
In my opinion Avatar was fantastic. I was disappointed in the trailer and that kept my...

Up next, reading Animal Farm
I just finished reading David Simon’s Homicide, which I mentioned in a previous post, and am moving right along to George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
I originally read Animal Farm way back in 1994 as a part of a civics course in school and got the urge to read it again when I saw the fantastic cover art at a local bookstore. Looking back on it I wondering if I wasn’t a bit too young...

The Google phone is coming
Pretty interesting turn of events, it seems that the rumored Google phone is true and coming in January. According to what I’ve read it will be a GSM phone that will be sold unlocked and without a carrier, in terms of form and features and appearances it’s very much inline with the iPhone.
I found this to be pretty surprising, I saw the battle between Apple’s iPhone and...

Trying Spotify
So I decided to finally try out Spotify, for those of you in the dark Spotify is a European streaming music service. You can search a huge catalog of music and listen to songs, create playlists, and even purchase music. The software is top notch, music begins to play immediately, and you can scroll forward or backwards in a song the way you would a song on your computer.
Spotify is available in...

The good things in life
Tonight I went and had dinner with Chris, an old friend I haven’t seen in ages. When the waitress brought me my coffee I could smell it the second it left the kitchen and on it’s entire approach to the table.
Now that is one good espresso! Having said that, looking at this picture I can say the iPhone’s camera deteriorates like crazy with age.

Strobox for iPhone
I just downloaded Strobox on my iPhone. It’s a free download in the App Store that allows you to make quick lighting diagrams, then save them and email them out to your assistant.
It’s a pretty slick app. The developer is actively seeking feedback and advice on new features so I think the app will grown and expand quickly.
I would love to see a cinematographer’s version of...

Dragon's Lair for iPhone
I just bought Dragon’s Lair on my iPhone. This games was legendary in arcades when I was younger, it’s completely animated and really stood out from other games. I can remember another similar game that was set in the wild west and was all real video footage. Back to Dragon’s Lair, I distinctly remember losing a lot of change to this game and loving it so when I saw it in the App...

Liar ... liar ... pants on fire
Last week I sent a second invoice out to a production company that is late paying me for a job. The producer that hired me immediately responded to my e-mail and invoice by apologizing profusely and claiming that she never recieved the original invoice. You know what? That’s some shit that infuriates me to no end.
I send this stupid useless person the first invoice on November 2nd at 12:28,...

Souls Of Mischief - Montezuma's Revenge
Sometimes you just get blindsided by good new music, I’d have never expected in the end of 2009 to find a new Souls of Mischief album and enjoy it so much. I probably wouldn’t have even looked at it, but the album is produced by Prince Paul.
One … Prince Paul is the man and is responsible for some of my favorite Hip-Hop albums. And two … I love albums produced entirely...

Time Digital Magazine Concept
A while back I posted a YouTube clip of a living magazine concept, something I liked but don’t see really taking off. At the end of the day that concept still is a disposable product, and I think in the future we’re going to see less and less of that. I think idea of a reading device where content is pushed in electronically makes a lot more sense, and this video is exactly in line...
