I'm now using Time Machine
I cleared out some space on an external hard disk this past week and decided to finally start using Time Machine. I don’t know why I never bothered to turn on Time Machine before. I did some manual backups from time to time, but nowhere near enough to really be safe. Luckily it never came back and bit me in the ass. Time Machine really works great, I’m using an external FireWire...

The Road
Watched The Road last night, which is a film from 2009 based on a Cormac McCarthy novel. The movie stars Vigo Mortensen and saw a very limited release in the United States. It’s just been released to theaters here in Stockholm, but it’s a very low profile release with very little publicity. The Road, is very bleak and depressing film that is set after civilization has collapsed and...

YouTube rolls out HTML5 video
This news is about a week old but I really felt it was worth sharing. YouTube has started testing an HTML5 beta that delivers their video content in h.264 instead of Flash. If you are using a supported browser, like Apple’s Safari or Google’s Chrome, then you can enter the beta here. Personally I’m very much in favor of HTML5 replacing Flash. I never liked Flash, not when it...

More iPad tidbits
I was checking out Daring Fireball yesterday and John Gruber shared some of his thoughts and opinions after having had a chance to play with and test Apple’s iPad. His article has some very interesting points in it and is worth reading in it’s entirety. One thing he mentions that is worth bringing up here is comparing the iPad with an automatic transmission in a car. He points out...

Oddisee
I might have slept on the Diamond District album, but you won’t catch me sleeping twice. I found two new albums from Washington DC rapper/producer Oddisee. The first one is called “Odd Winter” and you can get it for free from his bandcamp page. Odd Winter is a part of a series, and the other parts Odd Autumn and Odd Summer can also be downloaded from his bandcamp site. However...

Day of the Tablet (Part 2)
So the Apple tablet has come and gone, I’ve had some time to digest and think about the announcement of the iPad and feel that I’m now ready to share my feelings on it. I think like many others I was disappointed with the announcement of the Apple iPad. After some thought I feel that the biggest failure in yesterday’s presentation was the actual presentation itself. I wrote in...

Day of the Tablet (Part 1)
It’s January 27th and the day of the Apple tablet is finally upon us. The media speculation for this thing has been non-stop, and reached a level that’s never been seen before for an Apple product. In a way it’s a testament to how big a success the iPhone has been that everyone is up in gear about today’s announcement. Everyone is expecting a product that leaves that same...

Slaughterhouse concert
I went and photographed the Slaughterhouse concert last night in Stockholm. I honestly can’t even tell you how the concert was because I was shooting pictures non-stop from start to finish, the only the song I can remember them doing was Royce da 5’9”s classic Boom.

iPhone game of the week: Hoggy
I love playing games on my iPhone. I think it fits me perfectly, it’s not serious enough where you can lose lot’s of time playing games but the platform is advanced enough where you can find some really cool games to pass some time with in your spare time. My latest App Store discovery is Hoggy, actually my girl found it. In Hoggy you control a little purple blob that’s been...

Damn I've been sleeping ...
Considering how long I lived in Washington DC I ashamed that I slept on this album for so long. Diamond District’s “In The Ruff” is some real good classic 90’s boom-bap sounding hip-hop. It’s a fantastic record that any hip-hop head should go and check out. Check out Diamond District’s blog for more information on the group and make sure to check out the album. ...

The Great Chair Experiment of NY
A friend of mine posted this video on his Facebook and I thought it was worth sharing. A design company put 25 modern design chairs equipped with GPS on the streets of Manhattan and monitored them waiting for random people to come and take them home. They filmed it all and made the movie bellow: Pretty cool idea, fantastically original advertising concept.

Four things to do in 2010
It’s a new year and time to make some resolutions to try and make it a better year than the last one. Here’s four things I want to do in 2010 that will help make it a fantastic year. Read 50 books I’ve gotten a good start on this, I’ve already put away two books since 2010 started and I’m making good progress on a third. So that means only 47 left to go. Improve...

Brave New World Revisited
In school we were given the choice to read either Aledous Huxley’s “Brave New World” or George Orwell’s “1984”, I went with “Brave New World” and it’s a book that stayed with me over the years. I just finished reading it again, along with “Brave New World Revisted,” and I really enjoyed reading the both of them. I find the parallels...
